Border to Beaches is a key component of the Trans Canada Trail. This high-quality trail will become the showcase of our trail system, winding 370 kilometres from the rugged Canadian Shield terrain of eastern Manitoba to the sandy, post-glacial landscape of Lake Winnipeg’s beaches.
A dedicated trail system, Border to Beaches will link completed sections of Manitoba’s Trans Canada Trail by connecting three provincial parks, Old Pinawa Dam, Grand Beach and Whiteshell Provincial Parks, each with it’s own well-developed tourism infrastructure.
En route, the trail will connect towns and rural areas, following the Winnipeg River system.
One of the highlights of this trail is the 60-metre Whiteshell Bridge, a beautifully designed structure that crosses the Whiteshell River and allows foot access to Sturgeon Falls, one of the province’s most spectacular falls and a popular whitewater playboating area.
